" ... SPRINGS ETERNAL"
Besides Lourdes, there are two thousand "miraculous" springs in France. Once you have located the village, just follow the signs to the one for backaches, headaches, rheumatism or pimples. The town of San Damiano in northern Italy attracts busloads of French pilgrims armed with enormous plastic jerrycans to bring its precious fluid back to cure the ailments of relatives and friends. There is even one in Nowra, in my home-state of New South Wales in Australia.
Some regret that most of these competitors of the money-maker in the Pyrenees, lucrative Lourdes, have not been recognized by the Church as miraculous. But many of the faithful, in a manner of speaking, swear by them.
